Super Bowl LV Betting Guide

Super Bowl LV.jpg

The Super Bowl is arguably the biggest event in the United States and it’s a great time to win some money gambling. There are hundreds of ways to bet on the actual game but the real fun is in the prop bets. Lucky for you we are here to provide you with a guide and some of our favorite bets. Welcome to the annual Going Off Topic Super Bowl Betting Guide. (these numbers were found on Draft Kings and Bovada)

Game Bets

  1. Game Outcome: Chiefs -3.5 (-103) vs. Bucs +3.5 (-118)

  • Give me the Chiefs -3.5 here, Patrick Mahomes and Company are looking unstoppable on offense and the defense has been sneaky good the last few weeks. Yes, the Bucs have a good defense and the Chiefs have a banged up offensive line, but the Chiefs will plan for that and move the ball pretty easily in my opinion. Brady looked bad in the 2nd half against the Packers and was lucky to come away with the victory. I expect Chris Jones and Honey Badger to make a few big plays for the Chiefs D.

2. Game Total: Over 56.5 (-109) vs. Under 56.5 (-112)

  • I am leaning towards the under right now for some of the reasons I said above (Chiefs D and Brady’s 2nd half struggles last week). I think the Chiefs will put up 30-35 and then it comes down to the Bucs. Betting on and rooting for the under is not fun but I think its the smart play

3. MVP Odds: Mahomes (-106), Brady (+210), Hill (+1200), Kelce (+1300), Fournette (+2500), Mathieu (+4000), Barrett (+5000)

  • Obviously Mahomes and Brady are the big favorites and their lines are actually pretty friendly right now. Hill and Kelce have nice odds and the way they both have been playing why not throw a couple dollars down? If you are looking for some long shots I like Mathieu and Shaq Barrett. Let’s say Mathieu has at least a pick and returns one for a touchdown, is that enough? Barrett could cause the Chiefs o-line a lot of problems and if he gets a couple sacks and really disrupts the offense you could see it!

    • Previous 5 SB MVPs: QB Patrick Mahomes, WR Julian Edelman, QB Nick Foles, QB Tom Brady, LB Von Miller

Prop Bets

  1. Coin Toss: Heads (-103) vs. Tails (-103)

    • History: 25 heads (47%) and 29 Tails (53%)

    • Longest Streak : Heads 5 times

    • Previous 10: 5 heads, 5 tails

    • I am taking tails again this year, tails never fails and tails is going to start a streak

  2. Will a FG or extra point hit an upright or the crossbar? Yes (+400) vs. No (-625)

    • The odds for yes are to nice to pass up here. Butker has been better for the Chiefs lately but his extra points have been erratic this year.

  3. Either Team to miss an extra point: Yes (+195) vs. No (-250)

    • See above

  4. How long will it take Jazmine Sullivan or Eric Church to sing the US National Anthem? Over 1:59 (Even) vs Under 1:59 (-140)

    • Jazmine Sullivan has sang the National Anthem one time for a sporting event and that was at the 2016 NHL Stadium Series between the Wild and the Blackhawks. She came in at 1:38. I was unable to find any history for Eric Church singing the Anthem at a public event. I am assuming he will have his guitar with him but the big question is will they be trading lines or verses? That could absolutely add a little time on here.

    • History: Super Bowl 50 Lady Gaga (2:09), Super Bowl 51 Luke Bryan (2:04), Super Bowl 52 Pink (1:53), Super Bowl 53 Gladys Knight (1:49), Super Bowl 54 Demi Lovato (1:49).

    • I am leaning the over here; it seems difficult to go under 2 minutes with two people singing and one playing a guitar. I also like the even odds.

  5. Who will sing the most words during the National Anthem? Jazmine Sullivan (-105) vs. Eric Church (-135)

    • I like the odds for Jazmine and I could see Eric Church playing his guitar and just having a couple lines here or there. This is a complete shot in the dark.

  6. Color of Gatorade dumped on winning coach: Orange (+150), Red (+225), Lime/Green/Yellow (+275), Clear/Water (+700), Blue (+800), Purple (+1000)

    • History: Super Bowl 54 (Orange), Super Bowl 53 (Blue), Super Bowl 52 (Yellow), Super Bowl 51 (None), Super Bowl 50 (Orange), Super Bowl 49 (Blue)

    • Let’s be honest, this is a total crap shoot but Blue at 8-1 odds is great value considering that has been the color 2 of the last 5 years. I will go with orange but also throw a little on blue!

  7. Will Kenny G be on stage during the halftime show? Yes (+325) vs. No (-550)

    • I will definitely not be betting on this but I need to know why this line exists. I don’t know much about the The Weeknd but man I love Kenny G. I am hoping he comes out.

  8. Which Team will commit the first penalty? Chiefs (-115) vs. Bucs (-115)

    • My initial thought here was to bet on the Bucs because I have been hearing about how they are one of the most penalized teams in the NFL. When I looked into it more the Chiefs were the 4th most penalized team and the Bucs were 20th. I still think the Bucs commit the first penalty here though, I can see a defensive holding or PI call early on.

  9. Longest TD: Over 45.5 yards (-115) vs. Under 45.5 yards (-115)

    • It is absolutely more fun to root for the over here and with speedsters like Hill and Hardman this could go over pretty early. I can also envision Fournette breaking a big run for the Bucs.

  10. Players to score: Fournette (+120), Evans (+125), Gronk (+225), Miller (+475), Sherman (+2200)

    • Fournette and Evans at plus money is a steal. I can also see Brady looking for Gronk if the Bucs get the red zone. Miller and Sherman are longer shots but who doesn’t want to see a FB TD?

  11. Kelce to score and the Chiefs to win: +120

    • I think this is as easy a bet as there is, Kelce is the best TE in the game and has become unstoppable with Mahomes. I see him scoring at least 1 in this game and then a Chiefs win as well.
